Friday Photo: Children’s Artwork

October 5, 2007

I love the art program at the school my children attend.  They learned about primary and secondary colors.  Next, they learned about Michaelangelo and the Sistine Chapel.  Then, they layed on the floor and colored a picture taped to the underside of their desks so they could get a feel for what it was like for him to paint the ceiling.  A few weeks ago, they were learning how to draw faces (I still pretty much do stick people and smileys…that’s about it).  This week, they all collected various items from outside the school and made beautiful October calendars.

Here is an example:

I love the calendar—we might copy that idea. How do you store the children’s artwork? Do you take photos as you did this one? I am always looking fo creative ideas to preserve their creativity, especially when you multiply that out by 5 children—that’s a lot to store.
By the way, thank you so much for your encouraging words and praying for me. One of the difficult challenges of living so far away from family and friends but thank you Jesus that He is not bound by time or boundaries. This was a difficult trial for me.

Oh and the word necklace…..it has the word on one side and the other side has 2007-08 stamped on the back. Every year, we will find a new word to add and it’s almost like the “memorial stones” It’s a good reminder to help us remember how God is working in her life and how she, too, is growing.
