Menu Plan Monday

The last two weeks have been a little chaotic around our home, so I am hoping this week I can stick to the menu plan.

Monday:  Labor Day Cookout at a friend’s house…I am only responsible for making Hot Sausage Baked Beans.  I have posted this recipe before, but it merits another mention, so look below for the recipe if you missed it the first time.  The beans are very spicy, but our family enjoys them.  The recipe is courtesy of my husband’s aunt and uncle.

Tuesday:  Peppery Breaded Pork Chops, potatoes, broccoli

Wednesday:  Wednesday Night Supper at church

ThursdayBarbeque Chicken Basil Calzones, chips, fruit

Friday – Sunday:  I am off with my daughter on a “girls only” weekend.  We are staying at my Granny’s house (that means good Southern cooking) and going with my mom and my sister and niece to the Daisy Festival.  The Daisy Festival has been ranked the number 1 arts and crafts show in the nation the last five years, and is held annually at Stone Mountain.

Hot Sausage Baked Beans

1 lb. hot sausage
1 48 oz. can Bush’s Original Baked Beans
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup hot water
1 tsp. mustard
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. garlic salt
1 fresh jalapeno pepper

Fry sausage until well cooked.  Drain grease.  Open canned beans and drain.  Put sausage and beans in slow cooker.  Add brown sugar.  In separate bowl, combine water, mustard, ginger and garlic salt.  Mix well and add to mixture already in slow cooker.  Chop jalapeno in small pieces and add to cooker.  Cook on high for 2-3 hours.
