Happy Sixth, Princess Sweet Pea

July 28, 2007

Today is Sweet Pea’s sixth birthday. We had already celebrated with a trip to Sea World, so we planned to just spend some time at home together, having a special breakfast and special dessert later in the day. Aunt Becca joined us for breakfast.

Sweet Pea did have a new and fun experience today, though. Her friend from across the street has a birthday in a couple of weeks, but decided to celebrate early, so Sweet Pea got to go to L*bby L*’s, a place where girls get to wear dress up clothes, have their hair and nails done, and model and dance for fun. We had never gone there before, but Sweet Pea was definitely in her element with all the glitter and glam.

When she got home, I thought Audrey Hepburn had walked through the door from the set of Roman Holiday. Sweet Pea had a beautiful hairdo, complete with gold glitter and her very own tiara. Now, tiaras aren’t yet banned in the dress code at school, and since Sweet Pea has decided to go through her “I want to look like a princess every where I go” phase at 5 1/2 and 6 years of age instead of at 2 or 3, Mrs. Robinson might need to be prepared for royalty coming to class. (just kidding, hopefully)

After we had a long talk about makeup and how she didn’t need it and was not old enough to wear it, I reluctantly let her carry her party favor bag full of eyeshadow and lip gloss back to her room for dress up play.  She had a wonderful birthday, and we were reminded of how thankful we are to have her in our lives. Happy Birthday, Sweet Pea!

Happy Birthday Sweet Pea! I look forward to my little girl dressing up and having fun with sparkly shiny things – oh I hope she wants to do that girly stuff, at least for a little while. Those are some great pics you got and looks like she really had a lot of fun. I love the sassy princess one – too cute!
